Holmes House Concert Series
What is a House Concert?
A house concert is an opportunity to experience live music in an intimate environment. Hosts invite some of their favorite artists to perform for their friends and neighbors. House concerts are a way of building community. These social events are open to anyone who loves enjoying music in the comfort of a friendly backyard or living room. As much as we'd like to make a gazillion dollars doing this, that's not the intent. We support independent musical artists we believe in and want as many of our friends (and their friends) to be inspired to support them as well.
A house concert is a cross between a party with your best friends and loved ones and a private concert with your favorite musicians and songwriters. 100 percent of house concert donations go to the artists so it's an effective way of supporting performers.
Where are your house concerts held?
In our backyard (weather permitting) or indoors during the winter months/inclement weather
How long are the concerts?
Generally 2 hours (two sets with a 15 to 20 minute intermission in between so you can take a bathroom break, buy CDs, socialize, etc.). We usually wrap up by 10 PM.
What can we bring to the concerts?
Our house concerts are "picnic-style" - in other words: bring a cooler with your favorite foods & beverages (alcohol permitted), lawn chairs or blanket to sit on, bug spray and anything else you need to enjoy the great backyard...sharing is encouraged (and a whole lotta fun!)
...or NOT...
As much as we love animals please Do NOT bring your pets to the concerts. They can live without you for an evening... Well-behaved children are also welcome 'cause we think kids need to be exposed to as much good music as possible. These concerts are listening events and we want all of our guests to be able to enjoy the music without distraction.
There is no smoking permitted within the backyard or anywhere inside the house.
Where Do We Park?
There is plenty of parking available on the street near the concert site, especially at the near-by Westview Middle School. PLEASE be considerate and do NOT block driveways or sidewalks. Maybe it goes without saying, but please don't park on anyone's lawn...!
We encourage car-pooling!
How Do I RSVP?
We've provided a link for you to use PayPal to donate prior to the show. We really prefer you RSVP this way so we know how many more folks are coming to the party. You can email us to RSVP, but PLEASE be respectful of this process. We have limited space and want to have as many people here that really want to be here. Also, should we have to move the concert indoors, your paid RSVP will guarantee you a seat!
Please feel free to email us at concerts@theholmeshouse.com (or on the link below if you have other questions)
